It’s is so easy to get caught up with our wants and needs during Christmas time that we often forget about others around us. Maybe you’re not only focused on yourself, but your family as well which is a good thing.
There are many other families or people in every town, often closer to you than you think, who are in need. This year, why not spread the Xmas cheer by helping others and be a blessing to them. I’m not sitting high and mighty on my pedestal while writing this.
I’ve made this mistake many times in the past as well. Even if you have limited money, you still have your time right? Thanks to familyeducation.com, here are five simple ways to spread the Christmas cheer this year in 2017.
Bake cookies or make something sweet that everyone loves
I’m not much of a baker myself, but wouldn’t it be great to bake a bunch of cookies and make simple care packages to give to neighbors? You can decorate the cookies in a festive style and cook them in shapes that remind you of Xmas.
It can be as simple as baking one cookie per family member and adding a beautiful message card to it saying something like: “Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!” and then attach your name to it. To make it even more special deliver it to them in-person. It will brighten up any person’s day!
Give gifts to someone who least expects it
Food remains an easy gift to give. It can be something sweet or even salty like jerky. If you work in an office environment with a team of workers every day, you can wish them a happy festive time by giving them all small little gifts.
Bless those you are very close to and those who would never have imagined that you care. Give a gift to someone who least expects it and you’ll not only surprise them but help them feel loved. Everyone likes to feel loved, it is part of who we are.
Donate old stuff
Every town or region has many goodwill and non-profit organizations helping out the poor. Like they say: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Often these agencies will accept almost anything you give them.
However, that does not mean you have to provide them with stuff that is beyond repair. Those kinds of items belong in the dustbin. Instead, search deep and wide within your closet for any old clothes you don’t wear, furniture, toys and anything else.
Since it’s Christmas time, giving old toys to children in need will be much more appreciated than you could ever imagine. Have you ever seen a child in need receiving an Xmas present? That level of joy and happiness is priceless.
Donate your time
When money or old goods are scarce in your house, why not dedicate some of your time to a local organization helping people in need this Xmas season.
It could be as easy as helping at a homeless shelter handing out food or even helping a senior person fix their house. If you have a family, get everyone to help, and you’ll be amazed at the amount of work you get done.
That’s how you can spread the Christmas cheer this year.
